Your Family Tree
Before you start Lesson 1 of this Module, read this page.
After completing Module 1 you will know:
- the Northern Pomo words for these family members: mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, cousin
- the Northern Pomo words for these pronouns: he, she, they
- the Northern Pomo words for is, and are
- the phrase “my mother,” “my father,” etc. in Northern Pomo
In this module there are some activities that you can do with a partner. These activities are optional! If you know someone else who is learning Northern Pomo, you can use these activities to practice talking together.
To do Module 1 you will need to print out some worksheets. Click on the link below to open a PDF file containing all the worksheets you will need for this module, and print this file.
Module 1 contains 23 lessons, all of which are listed in order in the menu on the left side of the screen. It’s best to do all of the lessons in that order.
When you complete the lessons, you can open up an exercise called Extra Practice at the bottom of the side menu. (It’s also on the Family Lessons homepage.) You can use this final exercise to practice everything you have learned in Module 1.
For the optional partner activities in this module you may want to use photographs of some of your family members. It may be helpful to collect these ahead of time. The images can be printed out or simply stored on your phone or computer. At the end of this module you can use the images to make your own family tree!
Remember that if you do not have a photograph of a family member, you can also draw a small picture of them (a stick figure or a smiley face will do!). For the partner activities you may want to have images of your grandparents, your parents, your brothers and sisters, your aunts and uncles, and one of your cousins.
